Who Are We?

Since it was established in 1964, Georgia Association for Pupil Transportation (GAPT) has worked to protect students who use any school bus service within the state. GAPT works closely with the Georgia  Department of Education Pupil Transportation Division to achieve its mission.

GAPT’s members represent both public and private schools and include several contractors that operate transportation departments for school systems. They range from some of the largest school systems in the country to small rural districts.  Georgia’s school buses move over 1,000,000 students on almost 15,000 buses each morning and again each afternoon as they travel the equivalent of more than 30 trips around the earth daily.

Our largest GAPT member systems make up nine of the top 100 largest school fleets in the country.  The districts in the metropolitan Atlanta area transport more students than any other metro district in the country transporting over 400,000 students each day

VISION: “GAPT will serve as the leading resource for pupil transportation professionals in the State of Georgia and inspire a culture of continuous improvement.”

MISSION: “GAPT will build capacity in pupil transportation professionals by providing information, promoting innovation and serving as an advocate for those professionals as they partner with their communities to meet the needs of their students.”
